Business data still tends to arrive in flat formats: dashboards, slides, spreadsheets and reports. Jason Marsh thinks teams can understand complex information better when they can see it, question it and work around it in 3D.
In a new interview with The XR Beat, the Flow Immersive CEO explains how spatial data can help teams build clearer mental models around information. Flow lets users place data in a shared 3D environment, interact with it, point to specific details, and ask AI to create or adjust visual presentations.
Marsh argues that PowerPoint often fights the way people remember information. Slides appear and disappear, while the presenter holds the full structure in their head. The audience has to piece the argument together after each slide has gone. Flow takes a different approach by keeping the data visible in the room, where teams can explore it together.
The company started with more VR work, but Marsh says display glasses now make strong sense for meeting rooms. Large headsets can work well for training, although they are harder to fit into normal business meetings where people still need to see each other, speak naturally and react to the room.
Display glasses let the data sit over the table without turning the meeting into a full headset session. For Flow, that could make spatial data easier to use in consulting, financial services, wealth management, insurance, research and other data-heavy environments.
AI is also changing who can create spatial presentations. Marsh says Flow previously required users to find data, process it and build presentations through the editor. With AI, users can ask for a visual explanation, let the system process the data and then edit the result.
His final message is aimed at the wider XR market. Marsh says the industry needs to get out of POC mode and find users who gain value in the first five minutes.
